984 feet long and 590 feet high, the “Haohan Qiao” or “Brave Man’s Bridge” in Shiniuzhai National Geological Park is the country’s first all-glass suspension bridge. Easily one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever seen, I will be leaving others to do the selfie taking and keep a safe distance.
Starting as all wood, engineers replaced a section with glass and liked it so much that they transformed the whole thing. Clearly a daredevil or two in that group. With glass panels that are three quarters of an inch thick, I’ve been assured that it’s perfectly safe.
Not content with this transparent monolith however, another bridge in the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon area will soon outdo this one, standing at 1,400 feet long and 980 feet high.
I’ll admit it’s impressive. But still not enough for me to set foot on it
