Needless to say, this was a very embarrassing incident for MacArthur high. However, the three-day suspension imposed by the school was lifted – and saw Mohamed return to class today. With hopes of going to MIT, Mohamed is now saying he will transfer to “any other school”.
Mohamed has received support from people around the world, using the hashtag #IStandWithAhmed and even President Barack Obama has got in touch. His family have praised him for being a very smart kid – his father stating that he’s fixed his computer, his TV, phone, his electricity and even his car. When reporters camped outside their house in preparation for the press conference, Mohamed’s family even ordered them pizza.
The outpouring of support for Mohamed just goes to show that in spite of what his school put him through, there has been an awesomely positive outcome.
